Week 7: Neuroscience + Art
Neuroscience, intricate and complex digestion of the brain and art have found themselves at intertwining roads. Today, we can see neuroscience translated through art such as the Dance Of the Connections piece by; Sara Ambrosino, Emmanuela Ambrosino. This piece shows the complexity and synchrony of neural connectivity through dancing art. The bodies represent the brain and their correlation of constant movement, and limitless connections and communication.
(Dance of the Connections)
Neuroscience is art within itself in which artist recognize this element and use it to represent the internals of our brains and translate it into something that could be visually communicated. Communication is essential within the brain and in art. Neuroscience and art are two principles that are familiar in the process. As people rely on their brain to communicate their physiological processes, artist rely on their visual pieces to communicate their inner thoughts.
(Miracle Brain)
Art has been used to associate science and ourselves as one. An iconic symbol of such is the DNA strand. Depicted in many visual forms, colors, or styles this production of science turned into art has stimulated a culture of self. Art has used neuroscience and its respective elements to create visuals of familiarity and correlation of both the processes of the brain and our culture as a whole.

I like how you connected the two disciplines together: art and neuroscience. The statement you provided connects them perfectly. In the examples you mentioned I was able to get a better understanding of what the artists and brain communication can work hand in hand. The images summed up the connection. I would like to see more insight from you in how our culture is represented in these artworks. You introduced it at the end of your blog but I think its a good point made that can be further developed.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Nicholas! It was very interesting to see all the pieces you chose to implement and touch up on. The vibrant colors, and geometric features of neurology clearly show the ties between neuroscience and art and how they are not mutually exclusive but actually gravitating when intertwined. I also like how you explained that neuroscience and art intertwined is a new form of language.
